1 In College and 1 at Home

I am the proud mother of 2 beautiful daughters one attends a private Jesuit University and the other is in her last year of Jr. high school. Both have different personalities and both of them look at life differently. But, the one thing they have in common is their desire to be more then what society tells them they can be.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I'm an African American women and my beautiful girls are also African American. Their father and I divorced some years ago but we both raise our girls.

As a parent I never told my children that they had limits, and I made it clear from pre-school to today that college was not an option, it was mandatory. My oldest did not realize until her senior year in high school that going to college was not required by state law. Only in the state of Mommie USA was it law!!!

I demand the best from my daughters, and I demand that they do the same. I have them in after school activities that promote well being, mind, body and spirit. Including the one in college. I also assist them in finding their groove when it comes to good study habits, and having fun. Balance is the key to being successful. They both understand education is the most important thing in their life at this moment because the goal is to set them up to thrive and not just survive.
